May the heat stop soon (more 18/25)

The heat has been awful here!! It is hard to tat with sweaty hands in close to 100 degree temps, so I haven't tatted as much as I would have liked to. I'm slowly, but surely making my way with this piece. It is Piecework by Mary Konior.

  1. Sticky hands & high temps in heat, isn't stopping your work from being lovely. In the heat you slow down doing anything. When you get this all done as you want it to be..it will turn out breath taking! Keep cool, drink lots of cool drinks & keep your hands dried off.

  3. I tatted only one of this motif (and put it in a paperweight) and was quite pleased with myself that I could follow Mary's visual pattern, when that was a 'new' concept in publishing back in the '90s. She was an early pioneer in that method, which has now (happily) become standard.

So to see it here being connected in all the right places is great - just like the photo in Mary's book. It's interesting to see the over-all pattern that emerges when joining motifs together, and how the eye can be fooled as to where the motifs are. Mary was such a great designer.

You're doing a great job, so I'd wait till it gets cooler before continuing.

I keep trying to remember how much I hated the snow this past winter; but this heat is almost as annoying! I can at least get in the car and go to the store (preferably a craft store) and cool off! In the snow and ice I can't leave the house at all!

  5. I think that I'm going to have to take a break for a bit....too much white :)

Kathy, I agree I love how the pattern emerges will all of the joins. Mary was quite a designer. I'm glad the library had her book!!

When it is finished it is hopefully going to be for a small table. The plan is to make it 4x4, but that seems a long way off.
