One World One Heart 2011

Photobucket

"One World One Heart is a worldwide event for bloggers only. It gives all those who blog a chance to meet and mingle and form connections with those they may not have otherwise met from all over the world. In the past 4 years this event has grown to over 1,000 participants with lasting friendships (and even one love connection) formed along the way. Think of it as a GIGANTIC open house allowing you to travel without ever leaving your home........going from blog to blog(in various countries) seeing the wonder each one has created and meeting all the fabulous people behind those blogs. As a bonus each blogger participant will offer up a "door prize or prizes"....just for dropping by, saying hello and seeing their world. It's really that easy."

Last year I didn't have a blog and was insanely jealous during this event. Now I have a blog and get to participate!! I'm a tatter living in the Midwest of the USA. Which if the weatherman is correct will covered with 17 inches of snow in the next 2 days!!! I have a wonderful husband and a great 2 year old daughter.

Now for the giveaway and some tatting info.

This bookmark is my doorprize. It is hand needled tatted. My neighbors think that I'm strange because I'm young and tat. If you look on the internet there are lots of young tatters. I learning to needle tat from a dear college friend a few years ago. I'm currently teaching myself (with the help of many Youtube videos) how to shuttle tat. If you are interested in learning how to tat, try the InTatters forum or the Tatting Forum. They are great for answering questions....and believe me I've asked a lot.

Please leave a comments on this post for a chance to win the bookmark. The event ends Feb 17. Winners will be drawn on Feb 18 and e-mailed for mailing addresses. You must be a blogger to participate and please make sure that I have a way to contact you should you win. Glad to have had a chance to meet you.

Updated: The giveaway is now ended. Thanks for entering.

  1. I am not here for the prize - I have lots and lots of stuff already.

But, I am here to applaud young YOU, for learning to shuttle and needle tat, for being a blogger, for being outspoken for "the tatting cause" and for being an asset to the Tat-land community! You go, girl!
    Fox : )

ps Your giveaway bookmark is lovely! Someone will be very happy to receive it!

  2. I love the colors in the bookmark! I'm new to tatting and I'm using an old ball of ecru thread that was in the box of tatting thread from my Great Grandma. I can't wait to learn enough to go buy pretty thread!

  3. Ditto what Fox said! She beat me to it. I have no trouble accepting a tatted prize but I really would like to see it go to a non-tatter and maybe get them inspired.

  5. I would love your beautiful bookmark.... and may I also say....good for you learning to tat. I'm not young, but, I too have neighbours who think it strange that I do crafts. Period. I guess it wouldn't matter what the heck I did I suppose. Some folks just don't get it, do they?

I do bears, dolls and various little paper things. Like Fox said..good for you. I was going to say 'growing the sport"...hahahha...but, I guess it's not really a sport... let's just say....the craft then......

  11. Your bookmark is lovely. I've never tatted but do crochet and at times I think that tatting is a dying art but hopefully some of these old school techniques and crafts will come back into focus with some of the younger generation. Good for you for being a tatter. I hopped over from the OWOH link list.

  26. Tatting id one of those techniques I´d really like to learn, because I´ve gotten my eye up for some of all the funky and cool stuff you can make with it. Doesn´t it take incredibly long to make? Anyway, it looks great! I don´t really use bookmarks all that often, but would love to turn it into a piece of jewelry if I´m the lucky winner!
    Have a nice day!

  27. How beautiful is your bookmark?!?!? I have friends who tat and it's incredible to watch- I'm afraid I have to use yarn, standard weight, for my fingers to work properly, so crocheting (and yes, papercrafting) is for me!

If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll drop by both of my giveaways (at Twigs and Tulle and Kindergarten’s 3 R’s: I’m giving away a mini bunting and some pattern blocks) during this awesome blogging event! Happy OWOH!

I tried needle tatting a couple of years agao but got carpal tunnel from it...I'm hoping that shuttle tatting may be a bit kinder to my wrist. Your bookmark is just gorgeous. I'd love to enter your drawing. Please feel welcome to drop by mine too.

  118. Hello from Cody, Wyoming, USA. It is taking me a long time to get through the blogs (I am working backward now just for fun) as I have to read and browse so I don't miss some awesome eye candy or words of wisdom. Isn't this event fun? I am having a ball with it. Your tatting is lovely...I wish I could do that but have never been able to master it. Please enter me in your drawing.
If you haven't done so yet, please stop by and enter these giveaways too.
